Stop Chasing, Start Receiving: God’s Plan for You

Good morning, friends! I was reflecting today on how our relationship with God is a bit like a marriage between a husband and wife. One question kept coming up: who’s pursuing whom? Are we meant to chase after God, or is He the one seeking us? It’s easy to get confused about this.

Some people believe we need to constantly pursue God, working hard to earn His blessings through our efforts. They think if they don’t strive enough, God’s favor won’t come their way. Others expect God to do all the pursuing, assuming that if He’s truly God, He’ll meet their every need or fix their problems. When that doesn’t happen, they feel let down, as if God isn’t there for them. Both views, I believe, miss an important truth.

Our relationship with God isn’t so much about pursuit as it is about accepting what He’s already done. Analogies aren’t perfect, but imagine a husband who’s done everything for his wife—loved dobroher deeply, provided for her, and prepared a full life for her. Yet, she turns away, rejecting his care. That’s often what we do with God. Many of us don’t truly know who He is or grasp His character. We miss that He’s good—truly good—and has already prepared everything we need.

The problem is, we often see life only through what’s right in front of us, focusing on what we can get out of it. We want a God who acts like a vending machine: say a prayer, get a solution. But God’s not like that. From the very beginning, He created a perfect world where every need was met. Adam and Eve didn’t need clothes because they were cold—God had provided everything. It was only when they turned away, caught up in ideas of good and evil, that they started worrying about earning a “good life” instead of simply being with God.

God, like a devoted husband, wants us to trust Him and accept what He’s prepared for us. Think of how it would hurt a loving husband if his wife rejected his care, choosing misery or even unfaithfulness because she didn’t trust his love. I’ve seen this happen in real life, where people believe false things about those who love them, and it clouds their thinking. I think many of us do something similar with God, holding onto wrong ideas that keep us from seeing His goodness.

One of the greatest realizations in my life has been learning to let God lead me, like a husband caring for his wife. I’m far from perfect, but I’ve been so blessed by His love, which He pours out generously. Life hasn’t always been easy—challenges come and go—but through it all, God has been with me. He wants us to know Him, so don’t turn away. Look to Him, wait for Him, and He’ll meet you right where you are.
God loves you, friends. Trust in His goodness, embrace what He has for you, and see where it leads. Have a wonderful day!
